(NH 4608 5584) Preas Mairi (burial ground) (NAT)

OS 6" map, (1971)

Praes Maree - 'Maelrubhas Bush' -though a private burial ground of the MacKenzies of Coul 'is probably the re-occupied relict of an ancient cemetery'. It is neat and well enclosed with gravel walks, shrubs and monumental slabs.

W Reeves 1862

Preas Mairi is still used as a private burial ground of the McKenzies and is well kept. The earliest gravestone is dated 1768. There is no trace of an earlier Christian burial ground here. What Reeves is referring to are the remains of a chambered cairn within the burial ground (see NH45NE 5)
