(Location formerly cited as NN 219 784: indicated on map with scheduling document at NN 2184 7842 and accepted as motte). The monument consists of the remains of a small motte. Built in an area of boggy ground, there does not appear to have been an associated bailey but there are clear remains of a bank running round the foot of the motte. This was probably the base for a palisade. The bank is not visible to the E of the motte due to erosion, either from the river or from damage during forestry operations. There appears to have been some minor quarrying of the motte on its E side.
Information from Historic Scotland, scheduling document dated 23 February 1998.
NN 219 784 Irregular mound rising 5m above the flood plain of the Allt an Loin, surrounded by an earthen bank standing 1m high with a spread of 2m, except on the S side, where it virtually disappears in the marshy ground by the burnside. The whole structure is about 30m in diameter. Found by Keith Muir.
