Activities

Field Visit (5 October 1970)

NH43SW 4 centrted on 4009 3115

Centred at NH 401 311 is an area of stone clearance heaps in which no cultivation plots can be distinguished. Modern cultivation encroaches on the S and E sides. The area is separated from boggy ground to the N by a ruined wall, which extends through a settlement and field system to the W (NH33SE 1), where clearance heaps lying against it, and field walls joining it, proclaim it to be contemporary. It seems likely, therefore, that this clearance is an outlying cultivation area associated with NH 33 SE 1.

Field Visit (22 October 1997)

This group of small cairns is disposed across a grass-grown ridge, covering an area that measures about 400m from E to W by 100m transversely. The cairns lie to the S of a head-dyke (NH43SW 14) running E and W along the N side of the ridge diverges to traverse a bog to the WNW (see NH33SE 1.03).
