Archaeology Notes

NH43NW 3 408 383.

(Area: NH 408 389) "Cairns(OE). About 20 chains N. of the loch (Loch an Fheoir) there are a number of cairns existing on the moorland".(Name Book 1876) Not published. (OS 6"map, Inverness-shire, 1st ed., 1876)

There are no cairns in the area from Loch an Fheoir to Loch a' Mhuilinn and westward to the track at NH 4062 3836. A few small mounds are scattered over the area, none of which contain stones. There are no apparent signs of early occupation (hut circles, ruined buildings &c.) or cultivation, in the form of clearance heaps or old field walls, and the entire area is one of natural rock outcrop.
