Auchmacoy House, 1831, William Burn. A Scots Elizabethan fantasy for James Buchan, built near the site of two previous houses. Two storeys, harled with granite dressings and shafted chimneys; the south front is gableted and symmetrical about a projecting gabled centre with bay windows. The east (entrance) front has everything - bay window, porch with Tudor doorpiece, ogee gable and pencil-slim, conical-roofed tower with lower north wing. Interior simple neo-Greek.

Taken from "Aberdeenshire: Donside and Strathbogie - An Illustrated Architectural Guide", by Ian Shepherd, 2006. Published by the Rutland Press http://www.rias.org.uk
