A battle was fought at Aldy Charrish (Rev A Mackay 1914) (Aldyharves {F N Reid 1890}) in Strathcarron on 11th July 1487, between the Mackays, assisted by the MacLeods of Assynt, and Alexander Ross of Balnagowan.
