Archaeology Notes

NG92SE 1 9786 2028.

'Tobar an Tuirc' - the Well of the Boar - is said to have been associated with Fingal, and the death of Diarmid, his nephew. The well lies above Dorusduain (NG 98 22 ) (B G Macrow 1948) in Gleann Lichd, at the foot of Ben Attow ( D MacDonald, A Polson and J Brown 1931)

B G Macrow 1948; D MacDonald, A Polson and J Brown 1931.

This natural spring was located from local enquiries, at NG 97862028. There are no traces of stonework; a copious flow of water still issues from the spring.

Visited by OS (W D J) 27 September 1966.
