Archaeology Notes

NG88SE 7 858 803.

A Middle Bronze Age flanged axe (no class given), 5 1/2" long, was found about 1879 in the vicinity of the broad, flat, peat-covered plain on the S bank of the River Ewe, on which the 'Feill Judha' or 'Ewe Market' was held until 1716. (The context suggests that this lies about NG 858 803.)

W Jolly 1880; J M Coles 1966.
