Bank Street has a particularly cohesive group of late 19th century terraced cottages, prettily dormered along the water's edge. At Rhu, which forms a natural breakwater and harbour, Tulloch Ard is the last intact survival in Plockton of a traditional, heather-thatched cottage.

Activities

Field Visit (12 June 2015)

NG 80642 33624 19th century single-storey house, listed as having a ‘piended heather thatched roof’. The roof is thatched in heather continuously across the ridge, which has then been secured by a single horizontal metal wire that has been pegged to the ridge with wire. A single row of branches has been secured over the wire to cover it and to delineate the ridge. The thatch has not been netted anywhere.
