Archaeology Notes

NJ71NW 7.05 7259 1637

A sales brochure of 1932 provides particulars of Ford Lodge, Fetternear Estate (part of lot 61, p. 42) which contained a large attic, a kitchen, a scullery and three other rooms. A shed on a concrete base in the garden served as a fowl house and closet.

Information from RCAHMS (JRS), 28 May 1998.

NMRS, MS/992/4.

Nothing is now visible of Ford Lodge, which was the original lodge at the southern entrance to the policies of Fetternear House. It was superseded by the present South Lodge (NJ71NW 7.04) when the policies were extended between 1838 and 1869 and the public road re-aligned to its present course.

Visited by RCAHMS (JRS, ATW), 29 April 1998.
