In 1865 a 'portion of a canoe' was found (probably during building operations) at the premises of Messrs. Menzies, drapers, and at a depth of about 3'6" (1.1m). It was said to be 'of black oak and in one piece'. An iron ball was found in it.
King Street extends from NS 7958 9343 to NS 7967 9334 and the location is at an altitude of between 19m and 25m OD on the lower slope of a crag-and-tail formation.
