The firing range lies only about 700m SW of the local drill hall. It is likely to have been in use during the First World War.
Two firing stance, 100yards and 200 yards and possibly the 300 yards stance are visible on Next Perspective 25cm Orthorectified arerial photography.

The target of a firing range stands about 400m to the NW of Achlochan House. It consists of a wall 2.4m high and 0.55m thick protected on its NE side by a bank 3m thick. Behind the wall there is a concrete pit 0.55m wide, within which are the remains of a pulley for raising targets.
