Activities

Photographic Survey (8 September 2011)

RCAHMS made a photographic record of Pittodrie Stadium in September 2011 as part of its Threatened Building Survey. Earlier in the year Aberdeen Football Club had put the grounds up for sale having previously announced its intention to vacate the grounds it had occupied since its formation in 1903 and to build a new, modern stadium on the southern outskirts of the city.

The survey included exterior and interior shots of all four stands, namely the Main stand (to the north), the Richard Donald stand (to the east), the South stand and the Merkland Road stand (to the west). The interior shots were largely taken in the Main and Richard Donald stands, including changing rooms, hospitality areas and a detailed record of the graffiti decoration on the staircases of the Richard Donald stand drawn by a local cartoonist.

Information from RCAHMS (NG), January 2013.

Photographic Survey (26 October 2012)

RCAHMS made a return journey to Pittodrie in October 2012 to complete its survey of the stadium. The remaining work comprised photography of the hospitality and catering function rooms in the Richard Donald stand as it had not been possible to gain access to these in September 2011.

Information from RCAHMS (NG), January 2013.

Project (February 2014 - July 2014)

A data upgrade project to record war memorials.
