Hilton Junction [NAT]

This junction links the Ladybank-Perth main line of the Edinburgh, Perth and Dundee Rly. (amalgamated into the North British Rly. and subsequently grouped into the London and North-Eastern Rly.) with the Stirling-Perth main line of the Scottish Central Rly. (amalgamated into the Caledonian Rly. and subsequently grouped into the London, Midland and Scottish Rly.). The relevant lengths of the Scottish Central and Edinburgh, Perth and Dundee Rlys. opened on 23 May and 18 July 1848 respectively, and both lines remain in regular passenger use.
