Steamer PENTLAND FIRTH, of Newcastle, master William McKenzie. Enroute from Middlesburgh to Dublin. Lost 11 Apr 1932, 3.30am at Scrabster Roadstead, 1/2 mile east of Scrabster Pier, 1 mile from Holburn [Holborn] Head Lighthouse. Weather Northerly gale, heavy sea, dense with showers. Cable broke while vessel riding at anchor. 10 persons saved. Cargo of phosphates.

The location assigned to this record is essentially tentative. Holborn Head Lighthouse (ND17SW 7.00) is at ND 10669 70659.

The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998), possibly suggesting her successful recovery.
