Site recorded during a rapid coastal survey undertaken by GUARD of the S shore of the Firth of Forth from Dunbar to Stirling and along the N shore of the Forth to the Fife border. A gazetteer of all sites including listed buildings, designed landscapes, scheduled and unscheduled monuments was produced. Full details of the survey can be consulted in the report held by the NMRS.
GUARD 1996
A complex of WW2 defences within the dunes on Bathan's Strand where a track leads to the shore: three anti-tank cubes are visible, two are almost completely swallowed by the dunes. Three corrugated cylinders lie on there sides in the middle of the trackway. 1 2m cube with three grooves of different depths and heights. Two wooden posts in concrete settings lie on the foreshore. This complex has similar elements to NS 21 and presumably had the same function, serving as gateway.

On the N side of Links Wood where the track leads on to the beach is a concrete road block. The road block survives on both sides of the track.
