Near Maidens, 1/2 mile from Turnberry Lighthouse. Crew saw and recognised light. Wind south south east gale, rain. Temperature 9am 44 deg., 9pm 45deg. Barometer 9am 2980, 9pm 2964. Vessel struck by heavy squall, refused to answer her helm and ran ashore about 1/2 mile north north east of Turnberry Lighthouse Station. 'If the weather moderates this vessel may be got off the rocks'.
