12 December 1883, VALKYRIEN, 33 yrs old, of Denmark, wooden barque, 381 tons, 10 crew, Master P. M. Moller, Owner H. N. Jeppesen, Dragor, departed Newport, Va., for Glasgow, carrying logs of walnut wood, 1 life lost, wind NNW10, stranded, total loss, quarter mile N. of Dunure, Ayrshire.

VALKYRIEN. Ayr, Dec. 12. The barque VALKYRIEN, of Dragor, Moller, from Richmond (Va.), for Glasgow, struck on the rocks at Dunure last evening, and at daylight was found to have broken up, and the cargo (walnut logs and staves) strewn along the coast: one boy drowned.

VALKYRIEN. Ayr, Dec. 15, 9 20 a.m. The VALKYRIEN has broken up. Sixty men saving cargo and wreckage. About 400 logs salved, and salvage proceeding. Left wreck last night.
