NT 166 786 Concrete blocks, WW2
Sponsor: Historic Scotland
GUARD 1996
These blocks lie against the coastal bank c 400m west of Barnbougle Castle. There are around a dozen blocks, all c 3.5m by 2m, laid in an east-west line against the sandy beach bank. They appear to have been placed here fairly recently but may originally have been part of the coastal defences. They are now used to prevent further erosion of the bank and stop sand spreading onto Dalmeny House park land. Some of the blocks are broken or cracked.
Site recorded by GUARD during the Coastal Assessment Survey for Historic Scotland, 'The Firth of Forth from Dunbar to the Coast of Fife' 17th February 1996.
