NLO: Kildonan [name centred: NS 028 211].

Location formerly entered as NS 0381 2014 (N55 26.15 W5 06.08).

(Classified as wooden brigantine, in ballast: date of loss cited as 21 January 1903). Essex: this vessel stranded at Kildonan. Capt. Skillen.

Registration: Coleraine. Built 1866. 208nrt. Length: 33m. Beam: 8m.

(Location of loss cited as N55 26.50 W5 6.25).

A2530 deadeye and chain plate: from seabed.

NS 036 207 Site identified as part of a coastal zone assessment survey.

The location assigned to this record is essentially tentative. Kildonan Farm (NS02SW 52) lies inland, at NS 03665 21300.

No accurate location is available for the recorded finds, and there is apparently no detailed description of the wreck remains.

The equation of these remains with the recorded loss of the Essex remains unverified, but is accepted.
