Archaeology Notes

NS89NW 58 centred on 808 952

There is no trace of a limekiln and a pier on the River Forth, which are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Perth and Clackmannan 1866, sheet cxxxiii), on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1979).

Information from RCAHMS (PM) 27 August 1996.

This pier is marked on the 1st edition OS maps by a lime kiln. Four courses of stone wall are visible above low tide level. It measures 4m by 3m and is disused. It is in a ruinous and overgrown condition.

Site recorded by GUARD during the Coastal Assessment Survey for Historic Scotland, 'The Firth of Forth from Dunbar to the Coast of Fife' 23 February 1996.
