Field Visit (1996)

The substantial remains of a small un-named settlement is sited on the S side of the River Coe, in an area not surveyed for the c1800 map of the area.

It consists of a house with attached outhouse/byre of drystone construction [altogether c12m by c4.8m across walls c0.7m wide and from c0.6m to c1.5m high] with rounded corners, aligned W-E (without door, window frames or roof) with a large crescentic-shaped midden(?) [c8m by c3.6m and c0.8m high] immediately N infront of the central doorway to the house.

There are several very short lengths of drystone dyke emanating from the house, with a more substantial dyke [c0.6m wide and c0.2-0.3m high] running W-wards from the SW corner of the building to the River Coe.

SW of the building is a substantial structure - a kaleyard(?) - of drystone construction [c5.8m by c3.9m] with rounded corners and an entrance at the NW.
