Archaeology Notes

NO23NE 20 267 361

(Location cited as NO 267 361 and named Ledcrieff Loch Side). A parish boundary stones has been reported on the SW flank of Smithton Hill, about 350m ESE of Tullybaccart steading (NO23NE 21). Its faces are aligned towards and away from the Coupar Angus road.

Information from Miss LM Thoms (Dundee Museum), 27 August 1996.

This stone is not noted on the 1982 edition of the 1:10,000 map and the name cited for it appears to be at variance with the stated grid reference. It is most probably situated at NO 2676 3615, where two fence-lines join on the boundary between the parishes of Longforgan (former county of Angus and City of Dundee district) and Kettins (former county of Perth and Perth and Kinross district).

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 14 November 1996.
