Archaeology Notes

NG32NE 4 362 286.

(NG 362 286) Group of about 35 ruined shielings situated on a shelf of the Eynort Valley at about 500' OD. Both single-and double-cell types are represented, some showing merely as mounds of turf with depressions in the top, but some are in good condition with the cells open and much of the walling in situ. The majority of the group lies on the NW side of the Eynort River but some are on the opposite bank. (Visible on RAF air photographs CPE/Scot/UK/274: 4173-4)

Visited by OS (C F W) 4 June 1961.
