Publication Account (2009)

The Episcopal church was revived in about 1878, meeting monthly in the town hall. In 1880–81 it built an iron church in Manse Street, which was replaced in 1887 by St Andrew’s Episcopal Church, designed by Ross and Macbeth. Its associated parsonage was added in 1898 by Alexander Ross. Taken together, this proliferation of churches is testimony not just to the religious vitality of Tain in the nineteenth century but also to the prosperity of the community which funded their building.
