Field Visit (13 May 2015 - 28 May 2015)

A former 1720 manse house with early 19th Century improvements standing in its own garden. It is set back from the road line with an adjacent residential building at right angles to the west, possibly a former stable/coach house.

It has a three bay front façade with central timber front porch, opening to east, and five large 12 pane sash windows with two timber roof dormers. There is a slated roof with stone ridge, stone skews and chimney breasts at each end with five ceramic chimney pots. White rendered walls with exposed sandstone window surrounds and chimney breast margins.

To the rear is a two storey central extension with slated ridged roof. The rear extension features a small single storey porch to west with rear door and small single storey extension to east with sloping stone roof.

A low stone wall with ornamental iron railings is in front of property, with ornamental gate posts and timber gates to the yard through to a full height stone wall.

Other Features:

High boundary walls to Quarry Lane, Rose Street and to north. There is an external dry toilet and possible pigsty set in the wall.
