Gordon Square Grand Hotel, 1938, the first in a series of 20thcentury developments that radically altered the character of the square. Although the metal-framed windows have been replaced, its splay-cornered bulk still brings a hint of Art Deco to the High Street's western end.

Taken from "Western Seaboard: An Illustrated Architectural Guide", by Mary Miers, 2008. Published by the Rutland Press

Archaeology Notes
