This township is situated below a range of imposing cliffs, along a raised beach in the bay of Loch Losait on the E side of Waternish to the ESE of Gillen. Although much of the area has been afforested many of the structures depicted on the first and second editions of the OS 6-inch maps of 1880 and 1904 (Island of Skye &c., Inverness-shire 1880, 1904, sheet ix) have been preserved in clearings. Two clusters of structures were not located at the date of visit and may have been afforested. A scatter of isolated buildings along with extensive cultivation ridges is visible on aerial photographs (CPE/Scot/UK.273 Nos. 4150-1) along the shore and higher up the slopes to the E. A boat naust is situated at the high water mark in the bay.
Visited by RCAHMS (DCC), 18 November 1990.
