The site of the depopulated township of Varkasaig has been cleared and planted by the Forestry Commission. The aerial photographs show at least 14 ruined houses with some outbuildings and enclosures (Visible on RAF air photographs CPE/Scot/UK/175: 4149-50)
Lazy-beds covered large areas of the surrounding land.
