Activities

Field Visit (1996)

NF77SW 30 723 702

Cast-iron ship's cannon in an advanced state of corrosion. The muzzle and a length of the chase is missing, as are both the trunnions and the cascable, the only other details visible are the much-corroded remains of the base and breech mouldings. The cannon now rests by the side of a track some considerable distance from the sea; it is most likely to date from the late 18th century.

A Braby and N Batley, 1996

Field Visit (30 May 2012)

This cannon could not be found at the reported location on the date of visit. Mr D MacCuish (Balranald grazing clerk) confirmed that it once lay at old Balranald House (NF77SW166).

Visited by RCAHMS (AGCH, IP) 30 May 2012.
