Other solid and practical buildings erected by the Ellices for the benefit of the community include:

School and Schoolhouse, William Paterson, 1868 (extended 1954; renovated 1979); Tigh Mhonaidh, John Rhind, 1880, built as a cottage hospital (closed c.1950). Old School Cottages and Old Ground Cottages (flanking church), William Paterson, 1872, with gabled timber porch canopies and small square (mostly) four-pane sashes preserving the original character of their front elevations. Almshouses at Faichem, 1864, for retired estate workers.

[In 1892 Ellice's factor confirmed that 'labourers' rents include a good slated cottage, garden and potato ground'.]
