Farm steading, standard U-plan with hayloft approached by forestair formerly used as school, now a dwelling, and various 'improved' estate cottages, all later 19th century. A lone earlier survival - former thatched cottage - makes an interesting comparison. Its thickset walls are squatter and boulder-footed, with a fireplace in the central partition wall that divided domestic quarters from byre. This plan, with chimney rising through roof ridge rather than gable ends, is characteristic of the area.
