Desk Based Assessment
An earthen bank, possibly an old field or land boundary, was noted by the Scottish Borders Council SMR. Modern aerial imagery depicts a substantial linear bank running roughly north to south entering the study area at NY 46292 82604 continuing to NY46293 82639. There is then a break in the bank before it appears to restart for a section running NY 46292 82656 to NY 46287 82762. This boundary appears to correlate well with the western limit of the area of open arable rigs to the west of the Liddel Water depicted on Roy’s Map of 1752-55.
