Archaeology Notes

NG20NE 19 268 056.

A series of ruined bothies each with an enclosure of about two acres of deep brown, sandy soil. No doubt these represent early shielings which later became virtually outfield.

R Miller 1967.

Not located.

Visited by OS 25 May 1972.

(Classification amended to huts). The ruined bothies and enclosures noted by Miller were not located during the course of the survey. The area in which the NGR falls is a fairly steep SW-facing slope and is now largely occupied by a plantation. This plantation was established in the late 1950?s by Dr J L Campbell.

Information from RCAHMS (ARG), 13 August 1996
