An area on the S side of Ore Bay measuring about 400m by 300m within which the Rinnigil Gas Production plant is situated.

Many rows concrete hut bases survive along with several standing buildings. The buildings have been mainly constructed using concrete, brick and brick and concrete. Included amongst the upstanding buildings is a Gunnery training room with of the interior fittings still in situ, two larger buildings and a circular concrete pad close to the shore all interlinked by concrete roadways. The concrete pier is in a deteriorating condition and a floating crane has been hauled on-shore about 100m to the E.

The Gas Plant was used to produce Hyrdogen gas for barrage balloons with the cylinders being transported to the other Islands from the pier.

The whole complex is visible on RAF vertical air photographs (LEU/UK 4, 7026-7027, 17 April 1948), which shows that most of the huts and buildings had been removed by this date.
