The remains of a building, shown as roofed on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Aberdeenshire 1869, sheet lxii, labelled as a Poorhouse), are situated at the edge of a coniferous plantation. The building measures 10.7m from E to W by 5.4m transversely over mortared-rubble walls 0.7m in thickness and up to 2m in height. The N wall has been removed and a trailer parked in the shell of the building.
