Archaeology Notes

NF87NW 14 8464 7571.

(Area: NF 847 757) A chapel is said to have existed on the Oronsay which lies N. of Ahmore Strand. Foundations have been discovered when ploughing a slight knoll in the westmost enclosure of this island, to which the name 'Pairc an Teampuill' still applies.

E Beveridge 1911.

The knoll was located at NF 8464 7571. No visible remains of a chapel, although the tradition that one existed here is known locally.

Visited by OS (R D) 23 June 1965.
