What may be an unroofed shieling-hut is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Ross-shire 1881, sheet lxxxvi) and on the current edition of the 1:10000 map (1971).

The remains of a building and a probable still bothy (NOSAS site survey numbers 805 and 806), both rectangular in plan, are situated close together either side of the Allt Bail an Uillt Shios in a secluded grassy depression 1km S of Balnault. The building (805) is depicted as a ruin on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Ross-shire 1881, sheet lxxxvi).

This summary record incorporates NOSAS site survey numbers 805 & 806. Further details of these and other associated sites can be found in the Strathconon Phase 3 Report (page 45 & 46) produced by the North of Scotland Archaeology Society and appended to this record.
