Oban, 30th Sept., 7 p.m., I [Lloyd's agent] have just returned from the EARL OF CARRICK (s): she is a most complete wreck: the after part of the ship lies on a rock about 45 yards or thereabouts from the South shore: the fore part of the ship is about 80 yards from the after part, towards the North shore, and in both cases, as far as could be made out, bottom up. From the very strong tide running there, I do not consider there is a chance of salvage of anything. [The [Record received incomplete].

Greenock, Feb. 16, VALENTIA - CARRICK CASTLE. The VALENTIA (s), while proceeding through the narrow channel at Connall, came in contact with portions of the sunken wreck of the CARRICK CASTLE, knocking a hole in her bottom, and she was run ashore, where she soon filled. A diver having been obtained from Glasgow, the damage was repaired, and the vessel proceeded to Oban 12th inst., where she lies for the present.
