Surveying Details

-----------------------------

11 June 1959. A wreck was reported, very approximately, at this position by a fisherman.

Report by HMS EGERIA.

9 February 1970. The wreckage was located in 560124n 025724w standing 4.5 metres high on the seabed. The size of the site is 12 metres x 6 metres (40 feet x 20 feet approximately), and consists of a twisted lump of wreckage. Thought to be a puffer by a sub aqua diver.

11 March 1970. The site's position was fixed at 56 01 24N, 002 57 24W by converting decca co-ordinates - 36.45 green 57.35 purple (uncorrected) . The vessel is reported by locals to be a drifter which sank between the two wars.

Report by J Butler in a letter to the Wrecks Office dated 20 February 1970.

Hydrographic Office 1995.

Although formerly entered as possibly the (1920) wreck of HMT Leonard (BF 632), this suggestion appears to be without foundation. The Leonard most probably sank near or on the N shore of the Firth of Tay. See NO52NE 8027.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), following comment by Mr B Baird, 23 July 2010.
