Steam Trawler WILLIAM CASTLE, 223 ton, of Dublin, master William Hodgins. Bound from Dublin to Ayr for bunkers. Lost 19 Oct 1928, 10pm. North side of Salt Pans Bay, locally known as Galdenoch Bay, 3 miles from Killantringan Lighthouse. Wind south east force 8. Cause of wreck not known. 'Broached & unable to recover (thereafter) striking ledge of rocks on which now stranded. 1 lost, 8 saved'. No cargo.

11 November 1982. Wreckage lies close into the rocks at position 54 54 26N, 005 10 42W, with the boiler showing at low water. There is no danger to inshore craft.
