Carnan Buidhe is a large conical mound of grass-covered stones situated at Carnach, at the end of a small peninsula.
E Beveridge 1911.
NF 7993 6327. This probable cairn of earth and stones, now completely turf-covered, is c. 18.0m in diameter and 3.2m high. It has been eroded at the base on the north and south but is still circular on plan and conical in profile.
Surveyed at 1/2500.
Visited by OS (J T T), 30 May 1965.
Field Visit (7 September 1914)
Cairn, Carnan Buidhe, Carnach.
On the shore, opposite the island of Baleshare, about ¼ mile south of Carnach, is a small peninsula terminating in a conical mound, Carnan Buidhe, for the most part apparently a natural formation. On the summit about 10 feet above high watermark there seem to be the remains of a cairn about 25 feet in diameter and 4 feet in height.
RCAHMS 1928, visited 7 September 1914.
OS map: North Uist xxxix (unnoted).
