This project details all of the archaeological investigations carried out by GUARD Archaeology Limited and G.U.A.R.D. on groundworks associated with the construction phase of the tram line and includes sites from Ocean Terminal to Edinburgh Airport. construction of the tram line provided an opportunity to assess ad investigate the archaeological potential of parts of the City of Edinburgh not normally accessible and uncovered information on ow the city developed in the more recent past.

999157	RECORDING	WATCHING BRIEF	At Lindsay Road there is quite a considerable difference in height between the road and the docks below. When this area was being cleared in advance of constructing a ramp up from the docks part of a substantial old sea wall was exposed. A 25 m long section was uncovered, and investigated. The complete profile of the sea wall was not uncovered only the upper first metre, this was composed of five courses of large rectangular granite and sandstone blocks (1.35m by 0.85m by 0.55m), and the entire structure was built with the outer face at an angle of approximately 45 degrees, sloping down from south to north.
