A programme of archaeological work was undertaken in advance of the development of a proposed wind farm. The desk-based assessment identified 41 possible sites within the boundaries of the proposed development, with a further 23 new sites being recorded during the walkover survey. The majority of sites identified comprised very large stone cairns concentrated across one area of the site. These were visible in aerial photographs and were generally located on hillsides. The size and frequency of these cairns is unusual and their function is unclear. It is possible they are related to quarrying.
