NT 36320 69825 A building appraisal was carried out in July 2013 on the former gymnasium prior to its conversion into flats. The building is first shown on the 2nd Edition OS map of 1894. It has remained unchanged with the exception of a toilet block that was added to the NW-facing elevation during the late 20th century. It is brick built with a slate gambrel-shaped roof and lit by 18 roof lights. At the SE end an entrance lobby provided access to a narrow hallway and first floor gallery staircase. The staircase is a typical late Victorian feature with a barley twist balustrade and newel posts. A fireplace heated the gallery and this was also found to be an original period feature.
