A golf course appears on the 2nd ed of the OS 6-inch map (Ross-shire) and was used by the navy before, during and after the First World War. A military camp for a Second World War Coast Battery camp (see NH86NW 10.01) was built over part of the course, which never recovered and was closed shortly after the end of the war.
