In the mid 19th century James Dredge built a suspension bridge, similar in design to that at Bridge of Oich (NH30SW 11 ), to replace the ferry at the lowest crossing point of the River Lochy. The bridge was replaced by a concrete structure designed by Sir Owen Williams in 1928.
