A caption to a 1959 image on the EdinburghPhoto website (http://www.edinphoto.org.uk/0_a/0_around_edinburgh_-_fountainbridge_union_canal_in_snow_1959.htm) suggests that this wash house was at Murdoch Terrace and backing onto the Union Canal. The plot is empty on the Ordnance Survey large scale Scottish Town Plan for Edinburgh , 6-inch map, (Edinburgh, 1877, sheet 42), but built on by 1894 (Edinburgh, 1894, sheet III.11.7).
