No. 18 Dundonald Street was in 1914 the HQ of the Lothian & Border Horse, and drill station of that units "B" and "D" Squadrons.
A drill hall is depicted on the 3rd edition of the OS 25-inch map on the North side of Fettes Row, about 130m from the Dundonald street.
