The firing range appears on both 2nd and 3rd epoch maps of the area. Dregohrn barracks was built between the First and Second World War, and the range must therefore have been in use by troops from Redford in the late 19th and earlier 20th century. It is likely that the range was in use in both World Wars.

Information from HS/RCAHMS World War One Audit Project (GJB) 3 October 2013.
